Story Comments From Frances

My sister Frances was quick to respond to my most recent stories adding: "Our first TV was an Emerson. Also, the telltale sign of us staying up late and running to bed was that little white dot of light that remained on the TV until it completely cooled down. Our babysitter loved the TV too and would watch Kate Smith (When the moon comes over the mountain).........which we didn't like much, but TV was such a novelty that we watched it anyway. Long Lake was always the highlight of our summer. I remember learning to dance in the Dance Hall (with its jukebox). We'd get nickels from Mom and Dad and that's where I learned how to dance the Bop (Bill Haley and the Comets). There were some Black gals (older) there that taught me the steps. LuAnn was probably learning too. I don't know about you because I think you weren't too interested at that age, but we were around 10, 11, or 12 and found fun with others our age. Thanks for the memories."
